Hank Duensing - TULSA, Okla (July 31, 2016) - Brent Bates picks up his first win of the season, Chad Davis, Wesley Knebel, Bobby Wolfe, and Rob McQuary repeat on Saturday night at Creek County Speedway.
Brent Bates picked up his first Champ Sprint feature event win of 2016 after a hard fought battle with Kevin Brewer. Keith Bolton darted out to an early lead after starting on the pole of the 20 lap feature event. Brewer and Bates worked their way to the front of the field, taking the lead from Bolton on lap seven. Brewer lead until lap 19, when Bates passed Brewer on the last lap to take the chekered flag, concluding the green to checkered 20 lap feature event. Brewer crossed the line in second, closely followed by Zach Alley, Kyle Clark, and Keith Bolton rounding out the top five.
Chad Davis picked up his 11th win of 2016 in the Modified Division. Jeremy LaCoe dominated the first half of the race, with Collin Wisely in a close second, only to be passed by Davis just after the half way point. The race between Wisely and LaCoe was intense until Wisely completed the pass to take the 2nd position from Lacoe on lap 18. Brett Wilson and Mike Duvall raced to a fourth and fifth finish at the end of the 20-lap feature event.
In the Factory Stock division, Bobby Wolfe found his way to victory lane for the 15th time this season. Robert Bright had his sights set on the checkered flag, but an early caution flag waved for Justin Green who was facing the wrong direction in turn 3. That put Bobby Wolfe restarting in the second spot. Wolfe worked his way around Bright on lap 3. Dalton Garrison and Bright raced for second place, until Green worked his way back into second on lap 10, with Garrison passing Green on lap 11. Bright finished the race in fourth, while Tate Green motored his way to a fifth place finish.
Rob McQuary picked up his 4th win of the season, topping the 20-lap Dwarf Car feature event after battling with Devin Bates early in the race. Devin Bates lead the first 6 laps after starting on the pole of the 15 car feature. McQuary capitalized on a few caution flags in the first few laps of the event, finding himself leading the race on lap 7. Brian McClelland motored past Todd Reynolds on lap 8. McClelland and Reynolds passed Bates on lap 10, and would remain in those positions until the checkered flag waved. After being involved in an early caution, Larry Pense worked his way back to a 5th place finish.
Wesley Knebel took home the checkered flag for the 9th time this season after a tough battle with Kevin McSperitt. McSperitt jumped into an early lead after starting on the inside of the 2nd row. McSperitt led the way until the lap 7, when Knebel found his way around him in turn 3. Jimmy Masterson, and Joshua Tyre finish the race in third and fourth, while Austin Timmons found himself in fifth place, rounding out the top 5.
