(TULSA, Okla.) – Tommy Romine, Brett Wilson, Matt French, Chris Tuck, and Rob McQuary scored final victories of 2016 on Championship Night at Creek County Speedway last Saturday night.
After starting on the pole in the Factory Stock feature event, Tommy Romine cruised his way to victory lane at the end of the 20 lap race. Dalton Garrison put his bid in for the race lead, trying to make the pass on Romine, but was unable to before a yellow flag waved on lap six. That would re-stack the field. Austin McSperitt found himself restarting in third, where he would end up finishing the race. Bobby Wolfe would make his way to the runner up spot, by making a pass on Garrison for the second position. By the end of the race, Garrison fell to fifth, after loosing ground against McSperitt and Jimmy Owens.
Brett Wilson scored his first ever Sprint Car feature event win after starting eighth in the 25-lap race. After an opening lap yellow flag involving a few cars racing at the front of the field, Wilson would find himself restarting fifth. Wilson was able to maintain his position before the red flag waved on lap two for a car turned upside down at the top of turn 4. During the restart, Wilson made his way past Kevin Brewer to take over the 4th spot before another yellow waved for a car stopped on the back stretch. Wilson capitalized on the restart to make his way past Jackie York for 3rd. A hard race ensued between Wilson and 2nd place runner Will Scribner. Wilson made his way past Scribner to set his sights on front runner Keith Bolton. Wilson and Bolton raced for several more laps before Wilson was able to make the pass on Bolton with just 3 laps left in the race. Bolton tried to regain his spot, but ran out of time coming to the checkered flag.
Matt French made his way to victory lane for the first and last time in his Modified division car for 2016. It was a tough race for all involved with several yellow flags flying during the opening laps of the 20 lap feature event. When all of the dust settled, Matt French set the cruise control to victory lane, followed by Sprint Car feature event winner Brett Wilson, who was playing double duty Saturday, racing both classes. Joe Wright found himself in third after a five lap battle with Anthony Neel. Brandon Dean fell back to 8th during the opening laps, but raced his way back to a fifth place finish.
Chris Tuck made his way back to the winner’s circle, topping the Mini Stock division’s 20 lap feature event with his fast front wheel drive. After starting 6th on the grid, it didn’t take tuck much time to find his way leading the pack by lap three. Leroy Burger made his way to second place, after making a pass on Jared Traster on lap 10. While Burger was making his pass on Traster, Jimmy Masterson was making a pass on Kevin McSperitt to take over the third Position, while Traster dropped out of the top five. Austin Timmons made his way into the top five after completing a pass on Justin Melton after starting the race in 7th.
Rob McQuary took home the Dwarf Car feature event win after a tough battle with Paul York to take the lead on lap 6, after starting seventh. Mike Howard started in third and managed to keep a hold onto second place at the end of the 20-lap race. Jorge Chacon started in eighth and worked his way into the top five finishing third, right in front of Todd Reynolds, who made a pass on York to finish the race in fourth. York fell back to fifth after starting fifth and making his way up to the race lead on lap 4.
