Inside Line Promotions – TULSA, Okla. (May 26, 2020) – Brenham Crouch is heading into one of the biggest weekends of his career.

The young micro sprint competitor will make his midget debut for Keith Kunz Motorsports during the POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget League’s 7th annual Turnpike Challenge, which runs Thursday at Creek County Speedway in Sapulpa, Okla.; Friday and Saturday at I-44 Riverside Speedway in Oklahoma City, Okla.; and Sunday at Port City Raceway in Tulsa, Okla.

“I’m super excited,” he said. “I tested the midget last Thursday and started to feel comfortable. We’ll get another practice this Wednesday. The biggest difference (between micro sprints and midgets) is the horsepower and throttle control. You have to be really touchy with the throttle. I’m aiming to make the show with respectable finishes throughout the weekend.”

Crouch and his team manager Joey Starnes will also both race a winged micro sprint all four nights with the POWRi Engler Machine and Tool 600cc Outlaw Micro League.

“Sitting in two types of cars will be a good learning experience for Brenham,” Starnes said. “We’re trying to get him where he can overcome and adapt, going from one car to another. Guys who can do that are 10 times better race car drivers than guys who get stuck in one class for years and years.”

Crouch is coming off one of his best career performances in a micro sprint as he capped the T-Town Showdown by earning a top-five finish on Saturday at Port City Raceway, where he made his debut in the Outlaw Non-Wing division.

“We took our ‘A’ Class car to run with the Outlaw division,” he said. “I finished where I started (second) in a heat race. Then we fell to 15th in the first couple of laps of the feature. I got squeezed into the tires on the bottom and didn’t have anywhere to go. I finally got rolling and found some bite off turn two in the middle of the track so I’d slide myself into that and run the top in turns three and four. It carried over a lot to Saturday.”

Crouch rebounded in the final stages of the feature on Friday to place 11th. He continued the momentum on Saturday, winning a heat race from fourth before making another rally in the final stages of the feature to finish fourth.

“We fell to about 10th in the feature,” he said. “The cushion was so much further up than it was Friday so we pretty much had to run the bottom. We caught a lucky break and gained some positions that we had lost since we were down on horsepower. We fought for third the last five laps. I was happy considering the conditions and difference in horsepower. I think we did well.”
