Inside Line Promotions – SAPULPA, Okla. (April 30, 2021) – Garrett Hulsey, Frank Flud and Corbin Rueschenberg each earned a trip into Victory Lane on Friday at Creek County Speedway during the first Lucas Oil National Open Wheel 600 Series presented by Hi-Plains Building Division event since March 7.
Mother Nature has dampened most of the season for the micro sprint series, but weather wasn’t a concern on Friday when 60 entrants encompassed the three premier divisions.
Hulsey captured his first career Stock Non-Wing win and second-ever series triumph after lining up on the outside of the front row. Jeffrey Newell garnered a runner-up result with Chelby Hinton third, Gavin Miller fourth and Kenton Brewer fifth.
Brian Bennett, Flud and Hulsey were the heat race winners.
Flud was the deepest starting winner of the night as he maneuvered from sixth to score his second Winged ‘A’ Class victory of the season with the series. Noah Key, Newell, Miller and Colby Sokol rounded out the top five, respectively.
Gunnar Setser and Miller each won a heat race.
Rueschenberg claimed his second straight Restricted ‘A’ Class series triumph. Justis Sokol, who is the points leader, recorded a second-place showing. Garrett Benson was third with Jack Thomas fourth and Jaxton Wiggs fifth.
William Conner, Benson and Wiggs produced heat race wins.
Saturday’s scheduled NOW600 Series race at Grayson County Speedway in Bells, Texas, has been rained out. The next event is May 6-8 at Port City Raceway in Tulsa, Okla., for the 5th annual Oil Capital Clash and 4th annual Terry Walker Memorial.
