SCHEULEN, MINTON SCORE FIRST WINS FOR 2017, DAVIS, GENTRY, FLUD REPEAT

Tulsa, OKLA (April 7, 2017) - Preston Scheulen and Troy Minton score first wins of 2017, while, Joshua Gentry, Hank Davis, and Frank Flud repeat victories.

We started the evening off with last week's rained out Non-Wing A-Feature, in which Hank Davis came out victorious. Davis started 8th and made his way to victory lane in the 20 lap feature event. Daniel Shaffer finished 2nd after starting 7th, while Ryan Mushrush finished 3rd, moving up one position from his 4th place starting position. Greg Emeterio, Jr made big gains, starting 11th and finishing fourth, and Lance Folsom started 10, and crossing the line in 5th at the end of the race.

After winning the rained out Non-Wing feature event, Davis went on to win the A-Class main event. Starting 8th, Davis made his way into the runner up spot by lap 12, trailing race leader Josh Wakely. Wakely lead the entire race until lap 13, when Davis challenged and took over the lead. Davis went on to win, with Wakely close in trail. Holley Hollan finished third, coming from a 7th place start. Hollan battled with Scott Sawyer most of the race, but was able to get by him on lap 15, then making the pass on 4th place finisher Ryan Mushrush on lap 18. Sawyer fell back to 6th, getting passed by Kaylee Bryson at the line, but was moved to 5th, after Bryson was disqualified for failing to report to post race inspection.

It was the Joshua Gentry show in the Junior Sprint divison. Gentry started 7th, but was leading the race by the end of lap 1. Gentry sailed on to win the 15 lap Junior Sprint feature. Hayden Mabe finished 2nd, after starting 5th. Mabe found himself trailing Gentry at the end of lap 1, and was unable to challenge Gentry. Jase Mosely finished 3rd, coming from a 6th place starting position. Mosely settled into his 3rd place finishing spot during the early laps of the race. Mosely challenged Mabe a few times through out the coarse of the race, but was unable to complete the pass. Journey Hunt was the 4th place finisher, dropping to fourth after starting on the pole. Hunt was able to hold off Gavin Tipton at the end of the feature, after Tipton attempted to take 4th from Hunt. Tipton finished 5th.

Preston Scheulen claimed his first A-Feature victory in the Restricted Division. Starting in 8th, Scheulen found himself leading the race on lap 2, after a series of yellow flags during the opening laps of the race. Scheulen cruised his way to victory lane, followed by Daison Pursley, being the biggest mover of the racing coming to a 2nd place finish after starting 12th. Jake Nail finished 3rd, after starting 11th, while Gage Laney found himself crossing the line in 4th from a 10th place starting position. Caleb Pence finished 5th, motoring from an 8th place starting position.

Frank Flud had a repeat victory in the Outlaw Division. Flud started 11th, and made his way to the front in just 5 short laps. Flud took the lead on lap 5, with Jason McDougal close in trail. McDougal attempted to challenge Flud for the lead, but was unable to complete the pass. McDougal finished 2nd, but was disqualified for failing post race inspection. That moved 3rd place finisher Kevin Bayer into 2nd place on the scoresheet, while 4th place finisher, and 10th place starter Harley Hollan into 3rd. Andrew Peters finished 5th, but bumped to fourth after starting 13th. Chris Andrews tied with race winner Flud for most positions gained, starting 15th, and finishing 5th.

Troy Minton took home the victory in the Sportsman division. Friday night's victory was Minton's very first win in a micro sprint. The last time Minton saw victory lane was at Creek County Speedway back in 2011 in a Factory Stock. Minton started 5th, and took home the win. Minton took the lead at the end of lap 5 and motored his way to the win. Jeremy Wickham finished 2nd, after starting 8th, while points leader Kayla Ward moved 7 positions, starting 10th and finishing third. Ryan Cody found himself trailing Ward on lap 10, but was unable to complete the pass, finishing fourth, after racing from a 9th place position. Matt Cash was off to a good start, starting on the front row, and lead the first 5 laps. Cash dropped back from his 2nd place starting position, rounding out the top 5.

Frank Flud doubled up, winning the Outlaw Division feature, and taking home the 20-lap Non-Wing Division feature win. Holley Hollan started on the pole, and lead the first 5 laps before being challenged by Flud, and losing her leading position on lap 6. Flud pulled away from the field rocketing on to the win, with Hollan settling into a 2nd place finish. Hank Davis put his bid in to repeat, after winning the make-up non-wing feature, but was unable to get by Hollan and Flud. Davis finished 3rd, while Mike Ward finished 4th. Greg Emeterio, Jr finished 5th, making his 2nd top five finish for the evening.
