KNEBEL WINS BY A NOSE, SCOTT AND DAVIS WINS 3RD, BATES WINS 2ND, ALLEY SCORES FIRST WIN

Tulsa, OKLA (May 14, 2017) - Wesley Knebel wins by a short margin in Mini Stocks, while Robert Scott and Chad Davis win their 3rd races. Brent Bates scores his 2nd win in the Dwarf Cars division, and 2016 Sprint Car champion Zach Alley Scores his 1st win of 2017.

With only 7 cars taking the green flag for the Factory Stock A-Feature, Robert Scott claimed his 3rd victory of the 2017 season. Dalton Garrison was off to a good start, leading the first 6 laps of the race, but not without a challenge by points leader Robert Scott. Scott, starting in 6th, quickly making his way into 3rd by the end of lap 1. Scott battled with Jimmy Owens for the first five laps, and was able to complete the pass on lap 6. On lap 8, Owens lost his position to Austin McSperitt. McSperitt made his 2017 season debut, starting in fifth, finishing 3rd. After a tough battle with McSperitt, Owens was able to retake his 2nd place position, shuffling Garrison to 5th, after losing position to Toby Cooper. Cooper started 7th, and managed his way up to a fourth place finish. Owens settled into 2nd place after the dust settled.

Zach Alley had a strong night in the Champ Sprint division, scoring his 1st win of 2017. Alley started 10th, and worked his way into the lead with just 3 laps to spare. Alley made his way into the top five on lap 5, but had a tough time getting to the front, battling his way through lap traffic and past some tough competitors. Jackie York had a strong finish, starting in 6th, and finishing in 2nd. York made his way into 2nd on lap 9, and through the shuffling of cars in and out of the top 5, managed to retain his 2nd place position. Brian McClelland finished 3rd after coming from a 8th place starting position. McClelland was in the top five for every lap of the race, making it as high as 3rd, and falling as far back as 5th. Kevin Cummings was off to a good start, leading the first 6 laps of the 25 lap feature event. A lap 7 caution flag flew, and bunched the field back up, giving Jimmy Taylor the advantage on the restart. Taylor took the lead after the restart, and went on to lead 15 of the 18 remaining laps, until he was overtaken by Alley. Taylor fell out of the top five by the end of the race. Cummings finished fourth after the shuffle, while Danny Smith had a tough fifth place finish, coming up from his 9th place start.

Chad Davis motored his way to his 3rd Modified A-Feature win on 2017, after taking the lead from Colin Wisely on lap 11. Davis, who started in 5th place took advantage of an opening lap yellow flag to make a pass on Ho Dean for fourth. Kendall Schultz started on the front row, set out for an early lead, but was passed by Wisely on lap 5. Wisely went on to lead until the cross flags, only to be overtaken by Davis. Davis drove on to win the race, while Wisely settled for a 2nd place finish. Schultz was shuffled into 3rd after loosing position to Wisely and Davis, while Dean battled with an ill-handling race car and Shultz, finishing in fourth. John-Paul Larison started on the pole, but was quickly overtaken by Schultz, and shuffled into fifth by Schultz, Wisely, Davis, and Dean. Larison made several attempts to make a pass on 4th place runner Dean, but was shut out of every attempt. Larison crossed the line in fifth at the end of the 20-lap feature event.

The Dwarf Car Division saw 18 cars for their 20-lap feature event. Brent Bates was the driver that came out victorious. After starting on the pole, Chandler Foltz set out to an early lead, but a lap 3 collision with another battling driver, caused Foltz to do a few barrel rolls in turn 4, bringing out the red flag. Bates, who was running 2nd at the time the red flag came out, inherited the lead and cruised his way to the win. Fourth place starter Tanner Phillips finished 2nd, while Larry Pense made his way forward from his 9th place starting position, finishing 3rd. After arriving to the race track late, causing him to miss his heat race, Jorge Chacon started dead last. Chacon battled his way the entire race and managed a fourth place finish. Charly Gonzalez piloted his 83 machine from a 17th place start to finish the race in fifth, only losing one position at the end of the race to a hard charging Chacon. Gonzalez attempted to re-challenge Chacon for fourth during the last lap, but ran out of time and was unable to complete the pass.

The Mini Stock division race was definitely one for the books. Wesley Knebel came out on top, after taking advantage of lap traffic on the back stretch on the last lap, to overcome Kenny Grumadas coming out of turn four to the checkered flag. Grumadas came out to an early lead, taking the lead on lap four, with Knebel close in trail. Knebel took the lead from Grumadas on laps 12, 15, and 18, but Grumadas fought back. Grumadas regained the lead after losing it by just inches in a few occasions, but was unable to hold on to the lead going into turn three on the last lap. Third place finisher Jesse Hill, started in 10th place, and making into the top 5. Hill had a tough battle with fourth place finisher Justin Melton, but was able to get by him during the closing laps of the race. Melton started in the 2nd position, but a hard charging Grumadas took the position on his way to the lead. Jimmy Masterson started fifth place, and made it as high as 3rd, but was unable to keep the position, being passed by Hill and Melton during the closing laps of the race.
