Creek County Speedway Weekly Action Resumes This Saturday!

Bryan Hulbert – SAPULPA, Okla. (May 17, 2018) With ASCS Red River action on Friday, fans need not forget that weekly racing continues this Saturday, May 19 at Oklahoma’s Creek County Speedway with Champ Sprints, Modifieds, Factory Stocks, Dwarf Cars, and Mini Stocks filling the card.

With five events contested this season, the points chase in each class is still hotly contested.

Sapulpa’s Travis Ashwood holds the top spot in Champ Sprint competition by eight markers over Tulsa’s Bailey Hughes despite being winless on the season so far. Using constancy to his advantage, with four Top 10 finishes in five events, a win by Hughes on May 5 has kept the driver of the No. 777 in the hunt. Danny Smith of Sand Springs holds third going into this weekend with Jimmy Taylor and Mickey Walker making up the top-five.

In the Modifieds, Chad Davis has been the class of the field if with four wins in a row since posting a DNS on March 31. It was Matt French who wheeled to victory in the season opener and has kept the Davis to a 17-point spread. Kendall Shultz, Ho Dean, and Joshua Tyre make up the top-five in class standings.

A seven-point margin at the top of the Mini Stock rankings has gone the way of Leroy Burger thus far. With two wins on the 2018 season to Jerad Traster’s one, the pair is chased by Kenny Grumadas with Michael Longacre and Justin Melton to make up the top-five.

Dwarf Cars and Factory Stocks enter the weekend with the widest margin at the top of the point’s chart.

In Dwarf Cars, Paul York, with two wins, holds 46-point advantage while Austin McSperritt, with three wins on the season, has a 55 buffer to work worth with in the Factory Stocks.

With York leading, the runner-up spot belongs to Rex Johnson with Logan Applegate, Jason Miles, and Sam Champlain giving chase. For McSperritt, his pursuers include Bobby Wolfe, Jimmy Owens, Bill Newton, and Calvin Lewis.

Featuring weekly Saturday night racing with Champ Sprints, Modifieds, Dwarf Cars, Factory Stocks, and Mini Stocks on the card,
