Harris, McGehee, Cartwright, And Family McSperitt Top Thrilling Night At Creek County Speedway

Bryan Hulbert – SAPULPA, Okla. (August 25, 2018) With Mother Nature on the side of the racer at Creek County Speedway on Saturday night, a staggering field of 99 cars filled the Fast Five Weekly Series for the season’s 17th night of weekly competition.

Noah Harris captured the win in Champ Sprint competition as Justin Cartwright topped the Modifieds. Jerry McGehee in his first appearance in Dwarf/Xcel 600cc Modified action dominated the night. Keeping up the family’s winning ways, Kevin McSperitt raced to victory in the Factory Stocks while Austin McSperitt snagged the win in the Mini Stocks.

Working through the field from seventh, Broken Arrow’s Noah Harris railed the cushion in pursuit of the No. 51 of Jackie York. Building momentum as the field came to the white flag, Harris hit his marks perfectly to edge York by half a car at the drop of the checkered flag. York in second was trailed by Nick Lucito who raced to third from 10th. Kevin Brewer and 11th starting, Tim Kent, made the top-five.

Landing his second win of the season, Justin Cartwright took the lead on Lap 4 of the Modified A-Feature and never looked back. Holding off Chris Miles, then Chad David for the win, the final lap saw no challenge to Cartwright while Chad Davis and Ho Dean drag raced to the line for second with the No. 39 of Dean edging out Davis for the spot. Matt French crossed fourth with Collin Wiseley making up the top-five.

In the combined Dwarf / Xcel 600cc Modified ranks, Jerry McGehee dominated the A-Feature after taking over the lead on Lap 4 from Sam Champlain. Falling to third at one point, the No. 34 was able to move back into the runner-up spot as Larry Pense settled for third. Rolling from 12th, Jason Miles crossed fourth with Cory Hicks making up the top-five.

For the 10th time in 2018, Kevin McSperitt was the class of the field in Mini Stock competition. Grabbing the lead on Lap 4 from the fifth starting spot, Kevin was chased the remainder of the way by Jimmy Masterson with Michael Longacre, Danny Ray, and Justin Melton in the top-five.

In a caution riddled A-Feature for the Factory Stocks, time and a red flag for Bobby Wolfe caused tempers to boil over at the race’s half-way point and sent the lineup to the infield as the feature stretched beyond 30 minutes. The cars left on the track were kept impounded and allowed to finish their A-Feature after the completing of the rest of the night’s other classes. Before the break, Austin McSperitt had worked to the lead from the seventh starting spot. Having to visit the work area before the race resumed for fuel, Austin stuck his No. 12 to the high side of the Speedway for his ninth win of the season. Tommy Romine was second with Jimmy Owen, Brady Demeree, and Travis Jordan completing the top-five.
