Bryan Hulbert – SAPULPA, Okla. (September 8, 2018) Battling rain and mist throughout the Iron Man 66, presented by D&E Supply and Same Day Auto Repair, Mother Nature finally got the best of everyone as the checkered flag was forced to fall on Lap 45 with Coweta, Oklahoma’s Chance Morton declared the winner and picked up $3,000 for his efforts.

Taking off with the lead from the front row, Chance Morton got the positions away from Noah Harris to open the 66-lap affair. Racing through several caution and red flags, the race truly became an act of iron will as a Seattle style mist fell off and on. Keeping cars on the track, each restart as the track came back into shape saw the No. 7m put distance on the field.

Using cautions and attrition to his favor from eighth, Blake Hahn raced into second on Lap 20. Keeping pace with Morton on restarts, it took only a couple corners for Chance to again pull away. Getting a long green flag run through the race’s half-way point, Hahn was challenge by Kyle Clark. Working top-shelf on the field from seventh, the No. 9$ gabbed second on Lap 37 and using the high line began running down Morton.

Closing nearly a straightaway gap, Clark's run was halted on Lap 45 as Koby Barksdale came to a stop in turn two. Taking the opportunity to go under red for a fuel stop, the mist returned with the track keeping push trucks rolling and calling the Modifieds out to help. Despite the best efforts of everyone involved, the race was brought to an end as the track had taken too much moisture to continue.

Chance Morton was declared the winner with Kyle Clark second. Blake Hahn third was followed by Jeffrey Newell. Advancing 13 positions, Craig Carroll completed the top-five with Michael Tyre also advancing a baker’s dozen for sixth.

Dave Stephenson was seventh wit, Ty Hulsey, picking up the night’s Hard Charger Award with a run from 22nd to eighth. Alex DeCamp in ninth was trailed by Matt Ward who, like Hulsey, passed 14 cars to complete the top-ten.

A field of 41 drivers were on hand for the Non-Wing Sprints.

Joined by Dwarf/Mod 600 and Modifieds, the A-Feature for the Dwarf/Mod 600 division went to Jared Hickes who came through the field from 10th for the win in a Mod 600. Samuel Stegeman was second with Larry Pense crossing highest for the Dwarf Cars. Robbie Russell and Paul York made up the top-five overall.

With the rain cutting things short on the Sprint Cars, the Modified A-Feature was not run. The $700 to win event will be run on Saturday, September 15 as soon as Hot Laps have concluded.

Next at Creek County Speedway, the Fast Five Weekly Series returns on Saturday, September 15 with Champ Sprints, Modifieds, Factory Stocks, Dwarf Cars, and Mini Stocks in action. Admission $10 for adults. Youth 11-14 get in for $6 and kids 10 and under get into the grandstands for free. Pits are $30 (under 10 years of age is $15).

Gates open at 5:00 P.M. with Hot Laps at 7:00 P.M. and Racing at 7:30 P.M.
